Fitness, Climbing, and Specialty Programs
The Keene Family YMCA is committed to providing Healthy Living programs for all of our community. Living healthy is about spirit, mind, and body at every age and stage. We strive to meet every participant where they are in their wellness journey. Our ultimate goal is to set our members on a path to a fit and healthy lifestyle. Our philosophy for Healthy Living programs is that there is something for everyone, regardless of age, skill level, gender, or interest. We offer a wide variety of programs – from judo to weight loss boot camp to fencing. And of course, we wouldn’t be a Y without basketball.
Members are welcome to use the courts freely.
One member must reserve court time for the group through MotionVibe. Players are encouraged to bring their own equipment. All borrowed equipment should be wiped down prior to and after use.
Climbing walls are great for adults and children alike, enhancing stamina and endurance, developing hand, feet and eye coordination, increasing strength and flexibility, and building confidence.
We offer both climbing instruction and open climb opportunities. During the summer months, there are no climbing classes or open climbs. However, belay certified members are welcome to use the wall anytime the Y is open if it isn’t being used for camps – just check-in at our Welcome Center.
The wall returns for climbing classes and open climb when the first fall program session begins on August 28th.
If you’re interested in being belay certified or volunteering at the climbing wall to assist with teaching classes, open climb or to use the climbing wall on your own, please contact Kelly Fleuette at email@example.com.
Youth ages 12-16 are able to be certified as a Climbing Wall Volunteer. As a Climbing Volunteer, you can assist open climbs, classes and rentals as long as there is a BELAY CERTIFIED adult with you.
Members age 16+ are able to be Belay Certified. Once you are Belay Certified, you can use the wall during Y staffed open climbs, assist with classes/rentals or use the wall during off-hours. Procedures will be explained once you are certified and registered at the Y.
