Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. In New Hampshire, there are hundreds of amazing, hard-working, and impactful nonprofit organizations doing incredible work.

The Keene Family YMCA is one of those mission-focused nonprofits.

Our partnerships run deep.

When you support the Y, you’re supporting your community. It’s how we roll here. As one.

The Y serves thousands of individuals and families with core programs, including affordable child care and after-school care. It does so with deep resolve and care, and an unwavering commitment to offer this critical service and all its programs, regardless of race, gender, religion, or ability to pay.

The Y’s year-end giving campaign, including Giving Tuesday, is built around child care, which is such a priority where we live. Challenges have been further exposed by the pandemic, as families wrestle with remote learning, at-times tiring safety protocols, life-work balance, spiraling consumer costs, and long and frustrating waitlists.

For so many families, childcare is an absolute necessity. For so many families it is out of reach. The trickle effect of not having access to childcare can be paralyzing for a young family or a single parent.

Financial assistance that supports many of our programs and essential-care services like childcare are funded through philanthropy. Our victories will continue to be driven by all of those who step up and give to make a difference.

More broadly, a donation today helps the Y continue to successfully fulfill its mission to build strong children, strong families and strong communities, something it has been doing for more than 130 years.

Double your impact this Giving Tuesday.

You don’t have to wait until Nov. 30th to give. Starting now through the end of Giving Tuesday every dollar up until the first $1,000 will be matched by our good friends at Savings Bank of Walpole, a company that shares our values and works to support important membership and community services to those most in need.

If you are thinking of giving, or giving again as so many do, do not miss this opportunity to boost your gift with this match and to help us reach our annual goal.

With your help, we can assure a Keene Family YMCA for everyone.

"The Y takes you beyond who you think you are. When I joined, I had certain expectations and routines that I physically did. I was comfortable doing my routine and one day was asked to join a basketball game. I knew I didn't have the stamina to play full-court basketball. I tried to beg off, but the staff member didn't let go, so I agreed. I played full-court basketball for 45 minutes and was elated when I was finished. I was a boy again — all my old-man expectations shattered. I had a new understanding of who I was. The Y gave me that. You probably can have a similar experience in a church, or a library, but you can definitely have it at The Y."

We are better together.

We use the phrase better together often at the Y. We do so because our wonderful, tight-knit region is the sum of so many meaningful parts: the nonprofits working tirelessly to help others, the volunteers who quietly drive change behind the scenes, the generous donors who give dollars to champion so many causes, the frontline workers who are real-life “heroes.”

Inspiration and example are all around us.

People are happier and more productive when they can feel a part of their community, when they can feel like they belong, when the worry in their life is eased, when they are confident and respected.

At the Y, you’ll find all of the above.

Because of you, the Y is a part of the heart of this community. Help us to keep it that way by joining the Giving Tuesday movement. By doing so, you’re proving that in times of uncertainty, generosity can bring the whole world together.

Where there’s a need, there’s a Y.

Financial assistance and scholarship opportunities at the Y are determined by individual applicant needs. These days, more than ever, there is no shortage of needs, no drop-off in the number of applications from those experiencing hardship and seeking a helping hand.

With your help, we can educate more people, move more people, care for more people, and give more when and where it counts most.

With you, we can be transformative. With you, we can be inclusive.

As JoAnn Fenton said when she was helping to lead the capital campaign to build the new facility that houses the Y today: “The Y is about everyone and it’s for everyone.”

Here is how you can be a part of the Y’s Giving Tuesday:

  1. Now or any time before or on November 30, visit our website and give.
  2. Money isn’t the only way to give. You can also support our organization by giving your time and expertise. Click here to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the Y.
  3. Start your own fundraiser. Create a Facebook fundraiser with the Keene Family YMCAas the beneficiary.
  4. Spread the word.Encourage your friends and family to join you in creating real impact on November 30 by sharing what our mission means to you and why you support our organization. Make sure to use hashtag #GivingTuesday and tag us so we can share!

Forever grateful.

This, of course, is a time of year to be thankful. Our team is thankful beyond measure to have the privilege to carry out the vision and mission of the Y so that it can continue to be a strong, positive force in others’ lives. More than that, we are thankful for you, without whom our efforts are not possible.

Thank you for all the support you’ve provided this year. Whether you’ve donated, volunteered your time, or simply brightened our day by visiting the Y, we are grateful.
