Find Your Fall at the Y: Programs That Bring Families Together

The air is crisp, the leaves are turning, and fall is nearly here. At the Keene Family YMCA, fall isn’t just about back-to-school—it’s about new beginnings, fresh energy, and the chance for families to discover activities that bring joy, connection, and growth. This season, our lineup of fall programs is bigger and more exciting than ever. Whether your child is dipping their toes into the pool for the first time, your teen is building strength for winter sports, or you’re looking for a way to spend time together as a family, the Y has something for you.

Swim Lessons: Confidence That Lasts a Lifetime

Picture your child’s proud smile the moment they swim across the pool without help. At the Y, swim lessons aren’t just about strokes—they’re about safety, confidence, and fun. Our certified instructors meet kids where they are, helping them progress at their own pace. Fall is the perfect time to start; before you know it, your child will be ready for summer adventures with new skills and self-assurance.

Gymnastics: Strength, Balance, and Smiles

Imagine your child flipping, tumbling, and balancing their way to new confidence. Gymnastics at the Y helps kids build strength and coordination while celebrating their achievements—whether it’s sticking their first landing or finally mastering the balance beam. Classes are designed for every age and skill level, so your little one can grow at their own pace in a supportive, encouraging environment.

Climbing: Reach New Heights

For the adventurous spirit, our climbing wall is the perfect place to test limits safely. Children learn trust, perseverance, and focus as they scale new heights—literally. Each climb is a lesson in determination and resilience, and every successful reach to the top brings a surge of accomplishment that goes beyond the wall.

Ninja: Active Play with a Purpose

Kids love to move, jump, and race—and our Ninja program channels that boundless energy into fun, structured activity. Through obstacle courses and challenges, children build agility, balance, and strength, all while cheering each other on. Parents love it because Ninja isn’t just play—it’s character building, teamwork, and healthy movement disguised as fun.

Youth & Adult Sports: More Than a Game

Sports at the Y have always been about more than winning—it’s about teamwork, respect, and community. This fall, we’re excited to add new opportunities that give kids and teens a chance to sharpen their skills and fall in love with the game.

  • Fall/Winter Sports Camp (ages 6+): A half-day camp that covers the fundamentals of a variety of sports—perfect for active kids who love to try it all.
  • Mini Basketball Camp (ages 6+): A fun afternoon filled with basketball basics, drills, and plenty of play.
  • Half-Day Indoor Soccer Camp (ages 6+): A focused, fundamentals-first camp where kids can sharpen their soccer skills in a supportive environment.

For adults, we continue to offer opportunities to stay active, from leagues to pick-up games, ensuring that play isn’t just for kids.

Arts & Humanities: Creativity in Every Corner

At the Y, we believe creativity is just as important as movement. That’s why our arts and humanities programs are designed to spark imagination, build new skills, and bring kids together in hands-on learning.

  • No-Bake Cooking Club (ages 5-10): Little chefs roll up their sleeves to create tasty, healthy snacks—no oven required! Along the way, they learn teamwork, nutrition, and kitchen basics.
  • STEAM Club (ages 6-12): Each month brings a new theme—from “Spooky STEM” to “Pumpkin Power”—with experiments and activities that turn curiosity into discovery.

These programs let kids express themselves, explore new ideas, and take pride in creations they can bring home.

Sports Conditioning: Training for the Season Ahead

For teens and adults, fall at the Y is also about preparation. With winter sports on the horizon, our conditioning programs help athletes of all levels get ready to perform their best.

  • Ski/Board Conditioning (ages 13+): Led by NASM Certified Personal Trainer Bobby McClure, this program builds the strength, endurance, and balance needed to hit the slopes with confidence.
  • Strong for Sports (ages 13+): Also guided by Bobby, this program is designed to prepare athletes for any sport with functional strength training, core stability, and agility exercises.

Both programs provide expert coaching in a supportive community setting—helping young athletes train smart and prevent injuries.

Pickleball: The Sport Everyone’s Talking About

It’s official—pickleball is here to stay, and the Y is the place to learn and play. This fall, we’re offering Beginner Clinics at three levels to help new players progress from learning the rules to developing strategy and technique. Plus, our Coach & Play sessions give players a chance to enjoy casual games while learning from a seasoned coach. It’s the perfect mix of fun, fitness, and community.

A Season to Grow Together

At the Keene Family YMCA, fall isn’t just another season—it’s a chance to grow, explore, and connect. From swim lessons to arts classes, from sports camps to pickleball, our programs are designed to meet families where they are and help them discover new passions. This fall, we invite you to find your Y—your place for connection, confidence, and community.
