DECEMBER 3, 2019
Every day, on average, two children die from drowning. It’s a grim reality.
Drowning is preventable; basic swimming and water safety skills can be life-saving. More than 80 percent of children who drown do so under adult supervision.
So this year, on GivingTuesday, the Keene Family YMCA aims to raise money for 30 area children to take an eight-week swim lesson.
Our donors have stepped up again to do what they do – make more possible
Any gift you make in this 24-hour giving period will be doubled.
That’s because David Therrien, a member of the Y’s governing board, and Clark-Mortenson Insurance have generously teamed to make a $1,500 matching gift.
They’re all in because they care so deeply for the youngest members of our community family. Let’s join them.
Hundreds of children each year take swim lessons and learn water acclimation at the Keene Family YMCA. We want every child, regardless of means, to have that opportunity.
Here is how you can help us to make that happen:
- First – share this link with your family and friends on social media;
- Second – donate!
Pledge forms are available at the Y, and tables will be set up in the lobby all day December 3. You can also make a donation online.
Together, let’s provide a means to teach a lifelong skill and, potentially, save a life.
