Welcome New CEO Daniel Smith

It is with great pleasure that the Keene Family YMCA announces the hiring of Daniel Smith as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dan’s first day will be June 3, 2019. Selected by the Y’s Board of Directors, following a nationwide search, Dan will succeed Hélène Mogridge, who is retiring after a 45 year Y career and 7 years as CEO here in Keene.

Dan was the near unanimous choice from the hiring committee, board, and senior staff. We are thrilled that he will be joining our community.

Dan comes to us with 25 years of experience in the non-profit world. Currently the CEO of the Cadillac Area YMCA in Cadillac Michigan, a role he held for the past eight years, Dan increased membership 60%, increased program participation 50%, and raised annual contributions to 20%.

With us, Dan’s specific areas of focus will be on implementing the strategic plan, building and leading the staff, advocating for the YMCA and its mission, and securing volunteer and financial resources.

During our search for a new CEO, we looked at candidates from New Hampshire to Alaska. With Dan’s experience in growing membership, program participation, and working with community organizations, we are convinced that the Keene Family YMCA, and indeed our entire community, will have a fantastic leader for years to come.

Dan earned his BA from Hartwick College in Oneonta NY. He and his wife Maggie have two daughters – Hefrani and Hanisi.
Please join me in welcoming Dan and his family to our community.

Mike Hoefer
Chief Volunteer Officer and Board Chairman

P.S. A note from Dan “I could not be more excited to join the Keene Family YMCA as its leader. I look forward to working with the staff and volunteers to build upon the success and growth the organization. My entire family visited Keene and it was obvious to us what a special community it is. We’re looking forward to making the Monadnock Region our home.”
