All-Day Fitness Challenge

It began, innocently enough, as a straight distance run.

Well, not just any distance run, but an all-day run on an indoor track. That year Dave Olson logged 78 miles in 16 hours, or the window of time in which the Keene Family YMCA, where he works, is open.

The next year – in the same time span, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., or two full work days – Olson took on the same challenge, this time completing 90 miles.

But it’s hard to keep a good endurance athlete challenged. Read more.

Dan Smith and Mike Hoefer on WKBK Radio

Dan and Mike appeared on the “Good Morning with Dan Mitchell” radio show on September 9, 2019. This was a great opportunity to welcome Dan to our community and to talk about his vision for the YMCA.

YMCA Is a Shelter in the Storm

Keene Family YMCA Opens Doors to Those Without Power

Anyone in the community that may experience power outages due to the storms are welcome to use the Y for showering, AC, internet etc.

The Keene Family YMCA opens its doors to the Monadnock Region to those who have lost power due to weather, natural disaster, or state of emergency. As long as the YMCA has power, the community is welcome to come to the Y to access showers, restrooms, heat/air conditioning, electricity, Wi-Fi, and a place to seek shelter from the storm. YMCA Royals Gymnastics Team Competes at Regional Championship

The Keene Family YMCA Gymnastics Team participated in the 2019 Northeast Regional YMCA Gymnastics Championship May 10th to the 12th in Readfield, Maine. We had eight girls compete in this meet. Our level 4 team placed 13th in the region out of 28 teams.​ Read more.

Welcome New CEO Daniel Smith

It is with great pleasure that the Keene Family YMCA announces the hiring of Daniel Smith as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dan’s first day will be June 3, 2019. Selected by the Y’s Board of Directors, following a nationwide search, Dan will succeed Hélène Mogridge, who is retiring after a 45 year Y career and 7 years as CEO here in Keene. Read more.

Keene Family YMCA Staff Participate in Statewide Coalition

WMUR-New Hampshire community leaders are hoping to get more Granite Staters to turn in their unused prescription drugs during the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Nearly 12,000 pounds of unused or unwanted prescription drugs were collected in October in New Hampshire, and organizers are sharing ideas to get a bigger impact on the next Take Back Day on April 27.

 After losing a high school student to a drug overdose in September, the Keene Family YMCA has expanded its efforts in the Monadnock Region.  Read more.

The Keene Family YMCA and YMCA Camp Takodah are partnering with the Keene Housing Kids Collaborative in providing day and sleepaway camp experiences to children living in Keene Housing. The Fill the Duffel initiative invites community members to help send children in need to camp this summer. Read more.
