As part of our mission the Y offers financial assistance through our Membership for All program.

How do I apply?

You may obtain an application for financial assistance by clicking the button at the bottom of this page or by visiting the Y Welcome Center.


What paperwork do I need to provide?

You must provide us with proof of income for your household. This must include last years tax return and four consecutive pay stubs for each adult in the household. Proof of child support or social security benefits. If you are unemployed a copy of an unemployment letter (of acceptance or denial) is required. Any other documents you feel will explain your situation will also be reviewed. Awards will not be given to those not providing proof of income. Rule of thumb: If an individual (18+) is going to be listed on your membership we require proof of income for that person. You may be asked to provide further paperwork or to answer certain verbal questions upon request.


I am unemployed and do not qualify for unemployment, how do I prove my income?

You will need to provide us with proof of support such as: State or Federal awards of assistance, social security and any other funding sources.


My husband and I live with his parents, do I have to claim their income?

If you pay your own bills you do not have to provide proof of income for your parents or roommates unless they are going to be listed on your membership.


I am divorced, do I have to provide proof of income for my ex or my child support?

No you do not have to claim your ex’s income unless you intend to have him/her on your membership. You do need to provide proof of child support.


How long does it take to process my application?

It may take up to 2 weeks to process your application. You will receive an award letter in the mail. If you have not received a letter after 2 weeks please contact the Y Welcome Center and we will check the status of your application.


Can I work out/ use the facility while my application is being processed?

Unfortunately, we can not allow facility usage without a membership or payment of a guest fee. You may pay a standard guest fee to enter the facility during the application process.


How long is my membership good for?

Financial aid awards are given on a six month basis. Applicants wishing to re-apply must provide proof of income.


Will my membership be free?

Depending on your income and family situation, we will award a discount ranging from 10% to 100%.


Where does the Financial Aid money come from?

Financial aid is made possible through the generous contributions of individuals like yourself. The Membership for All program is funded through the Y’s own Annual Support Campaign. This is why we ask all our financial aid applicants to consider volunteering their time or to eventually “pay it forward” by giving back at a time when you can, in order to help others. It is through the generous support of community donors that we are able to meet the Y’s mission.


Will people know I have Financial Assistance?

Your information is confidential. Member Services Coordinator will process your FA application and our Welcome Center Representatives process your membership application. These are the only individuals who will be aware of your FA status. Once you have your membership you will have the same access and procedures as all other members.
