September has always been one of my favorite months. It’s the month my husband and I married seventeen years ago. As I kid, I loved school, and while I enjoyed the carefree nature of summer, I always appreciated the return to structure and a reliable schedule that a new school year, and September, offered. Hopes for a few Indian summer days, and promises of great sleeping weather, in September, was appreciated then, and now.
As an adult, I have the pleasure of seeing my teenaged girls respond as favorably to September as I did. They too make the most of summer, but are anxious to return to school – after a trip to the mall for supplies and a couple of back-to-school outfits!
In September at the Y, members who took advantage of our area’s outdoor offerings in July and August make their way back inside for group exercise classes; strength training; kids programs; and to reconnect with friends and neighbors.
In our community, September marks the kick-off of the Monadnock United Way’s Annual Campaign. It’s a time where the dedication of volunteers, and the power of the human-service non-profits in the Monadnock Region is honored.
September is a great month!
