An Angel Story #1

At the Y we are a cause not a gym and part of that cause is supporting our neighbors in need. This year the Y’s holiday Angel Tree Initiative has received member requests to assist 50 children and we need your help. Here is one family’s story (stories may be edited slightly to ensure anonymity):

My family and I have in the past year become a single parent family. I have struggled but maintained employment, but had to take the summer off to care for one of my children with a disability. This has put a great strain on me to get caught up on bills. I like to make sure my children stay active, so the majority of my money after bills goes toward sports. My children are very happy and I love being their mom, but times like Christmas make it very difficult emotionally when you want to give them the world. Besides gifts, the kids would love gift certificates to be able to participate in more Y programs. Although they love toys, they love to play and be active much more.

We will place the holiday wishes of this family and all 50 children on our Angel Tree in the Y lobby beginning November 18th. Please grant a wish by selecting an Angel from the tree and purchasing a gift for a child who needs you. Gifts should be returned to the Y no later than December 9th.
